ONE Championship To Launch New Mobile App To Distribute Live Events Worldwide
ONE Championship is gearing up for a busy year and the plans include the launch of a new mobile app to distribute their live events.
Earlier today, a press release documenting a recent press conference held in Manila prior to ONE’s next event ONE: Heroes of Honor this Friday included a footnote about the launch of the new app.
No exact date of release was stated, but ONE Championship chief executive Chatri Sityodtong believes that it is going to revolutionize the way that ONE Championship content can be consumed.
“The new ONE Championship mobile app is a true game changer in the world of martial arts.
“Soon, fans will have access to all our blockbuster live events and complete library of high-definition content in the palm of their hands, all for free, and you can watch from anywhere in the world. It’s going to take ONE Championship to the next level.”
For fans in the UK and Ireland, ONE events currently sit behind a paywall (£7/€8) and are distributed via a service called Cleeng.
What’s unclear right now is whether the events will remain Pay-per-view or whether they will now be free worldwide as suggested above. The most likely scenario however is that ONE continue with the pay-per-view model and make the app itself free to download.
MMANytt have reached out for further comment and details on the app and will update our report in due course.
