It Looks Like Charlie Ward Has An Opponent For Bellator 200
When Charlie Ward fights, Conor McGregor is usually in town and by the looks of it that means we could be seeing him make an appearance at Bellator 200 next month.
Last week, we reported that Charlie Ward would be fighting at Bellator 200 on May 25 (h/t KO Media), but the identity of his opponent was yet to be revealed.
Earlier today on social media, Louis King (1-1) announced that he will be the man standing across the cage from the Irishman next month.
King last fought on BAMMA 33 in Newcastle, England when he was defeated by Fabian Edwards via submission. Prior to that loss, King won his professional debut when he defeated Andy Manzolo at UCMMA 30 back in 2012.
Ward (4-3) had an eventful last outing in the Bellator cage to say the least. The Irishman defeated fellow countryman Johnny Redman via TKO in the final second of the first round, but it was the drama that unfolded after that made all the headlines. Ward’s teammate McGregor entered the cage and instructed to leave by the referee Marc Goddard as he’d yet to wave the fight off.
McGregor took exception to Goddard’s instructions and proceeded to push the referee and then strike out at a member of the commission as he was told to leave cageside.
Following the incident, Bellator never confirmed whether or not McGregor would still be welcome at future events. We’ve reached out to the promotion for comment but have yet to get a response.
