T.J. Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt 2 In the Works for UFC 227 in Los Angeles

A bantamweight title fight rematch between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt is in the works for UFC 227 on August 3 in Los Angeles

T.J. Dillashaw will face a familiar foe in his first title defense as bantamweight champion as he’s expected to face Cody Garbrandt in a rematch at UFC 227 in Los Angeles on Aug. 4.

Sources close to the matchup confirmed the news on Wednesday following an initial report from ESPN.

There were early plans to put Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt 2 on the UFC 226 card on July 7 but it appears the promotion had other ideas in mind for this grudge match between former teammates.

Dillashaw defeated Garbrandt last November by second round knockout to become a two-time bantamweight champion. Now Garbrandt will attempt to avenge that defeat — the first of his career — when he takes on Dillashaw in August.

Both Dillashaw and Garbrandt are expected to appears at a special UFC 25th anniversary press conference to announce their fight on Friday in New York.
