UFC Liverpool Official For May 27 At The Echo Arena
The worst kept secret in MMA is finally out in the open, the UFC will stage their first ever show in Liverpool on May 27.
The UFC Fight Night card was originally scheduled to be heading to Dublin, Ireland as previously reported by MMAFighting.com (see HERE).
Sources close to MMANytt.com informed us those plans changed last weekend and that the UFC were looking to move the show to Liverpool, England.
The UFC officially announced the change this afternoon before the UFC London weigh-ins at the O2 Arena.
Watch the announcement here:
The fight night will take place in Liverpool at the Echo Arena venue which can seat up to 11,000 people. Should the event sell out, UFC Liverpool will make history by becoming the first ever sports event to fill the arena to capacity.
Darren Till was announced as the main event and it’s likely several local fighters such as Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann and Brendan Loughnane could be getting a call from the UFC matchmakers.
Following this announcement today, it’s certainly arguable that the weekend of May 25-27 will be the biggest in UK MMA history with Bellator 200 also taking place that weekend on the evening of Friday May 25.
Till spoke to the media afterwards:
