UFC Exploring Alternatives To Dublin For Fight Night Card In May
The UFC’s latest event in Europe goes down in London, England this weekend, but it looks like there could be a change of plans when it comes to their next show on the continent in May.
Back in February, MMAFighting.com reported that the UFC were targeting a return to Dublin, Ireland on Sunday, May 27 (See HERE.).
This was said to be the plan up until the last few days, but it now appears that the UFC are exploring the option of changing the venue.
Multiple sources have confirmed to MMANytt that the UFC Fight Night card scheduled for May 27 will no longer take place in Dublin and that the promotion are currently looking at alternatives.
One option said to be being explored is the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England which is not currently booked on May 26 or 27.
Should the switch be made to Liverpool, it would mark the first time that the organization has staged a show in they City and the obvious choice of venue would be the Echo Arena which could accommodate up to 11,000 fans.
UFC welterweight Darren Till would be the front runner to headline the event and is currently awaiting news from the UFC matchmakers about his next fight.
Perhaps coincidently, yesterday Till posted a photo on his Instagram with the Echo Arena tagged in and UFC President Dana White gave it a like.
Though we’ve yet to hear that the Manchester Arena is being considered, the MEN Arena is also available on May 27.
Notable of course is the presence of Bellator MMA in London on May 25. Bellator will are said to be bringing one of their biggest ever shows to the English capital with the likes of Gegard Mousasi, Mirko Cro Cop, Roy Nelson, Phil Davis and Linton Vassell all in action.
We will update our report when we have further information.
