Derrick Lewis Wants A Fight With Francis Ngannou: ‘Hopefully We Can Get Something Before He Turns 50 On Us’
Derrick Lewis made a triumphant return to the Octagon a few weeks ago at UFC Austin and he’s already eyeing up his next fight for later this year.
Lewis defeated Polish heavyweight Marcin Tybura in the co-main event of the evening and is now back in the thick of the title mix in the heavyweight division. Both Lewis and Francis Ngannou have been going back and forth with one another in the media for the past year and with both fighters without opponents for upcoming fights, it’s been suggested that the two should now face each other to settle the score once and for all.
This past week, Lewis was asked for his thoughts on a possible showdown with Ngannou and once again, he wasn’t shy about sending a jab in the way of the former UFC title contender.
“Yeah hopefully we can get something done this year man,” Lewis told the Slip n’ Dip Podcast.
“Hopefully we can get something before he turns 50 on us.”
Also this past week, UFC President Dana White posted a photograph of himself and WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar. This of course got the online community talking about a possible return to the Octagon for Lesnar and Lewis said he’d be more than happy to welcome back with or without USADA testing.
“Yeah, if the money is right I’ll fight anybody,” Lewis said. “I’d still fight him even now.”
“I don’t care about that [USADA testing]. I was fighting guys that were on the juice before USADA even came along so I already knew most of these guys that were fighting in my young career that they was on the juice so I didn’t care. So it doesn’t matter to me.”
One thing we won’t be seeing though is Lewis vs Lesnar in the WWE. According to “The Black Beast” he wouldn’t be able to contain himself from wanting to punch Lesnar in the face.
“Hell no, not WWE, no,” Lewis said. “I wouldn’t be able to hold back. I’d want to throw him a real punch.”
