[Video] Watch Aung La NSang Become ONE Championship’s Second Two Weight Champion
ONE Championship’s middleweight champion Aung La Nsang picked up his second ONE world title today when he defeated Alexandre Machado at ONE: Quest For Gold for the vacant ONE Championship light heavyweight title.
Nsang walked into the bout with the weight of expectations on his shoulders and he didn’t fail to live up to the expectations of the packed out crowd at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
“The Burmese Python” won the ONE middleweight title back at ONE: Light of a Nation last June when he defeated Vitaly Bigdash via a unanimous decision. That evening, it took Nsang the full five rounds to capture his ONE title, but today it took him under a minute to dispatch Machado in clinical fashion.
Both men started the bout cautiously and threw kicks at range to keep one another at bay. Nsang, who had taken the centre of the cage since the beginning of the bout, probed forward with his left hand and set up a beautiful right head kick with less than 50-seconds on the clock. Machado saw the kick late and attempted to block it with his left hand, but his efforts were in vain and the Brazilian fell to the mat with his back to the cage.

Nsang rushed in looking to lay in ground strikes, but the referee assessed the situation correctly and immediately called off the bout before more damage could be done. With the crowd going crazy, Nsang ascended to the top of the ONE Championship cage and celebrated with his people of Myanmar.
With a belt placed on each shoulder, Nsang dedicated the victory to the people of Myanmar and he thanked them for their continued support.
