Derrick Lewis Demolishes Marcin Tybura with Huge Third Round Knockout
Derrick Lewis may be down but he’s never out.
After getting stuck under Marcin Tybura for most of the second round, Lewis came back with a devastating combination to earn a knockout victory in the third round in front of a raucous crowd in Texas.
Obviously because Lewis hails from the Lonestar State, he wanted to put on a show and that’s exactly what he did while earning his ninth knockout in the UFC.
Lewis snatched an early takedown off a kick, landing on top of Tybura, which is probably the last place the Polish heavyweight wanted to be at the start of the fight.
To his credit, Tybura did a good job of staving off any damage while working to improve his position before he was able to scramble free and land on top of Lewis as he stumbled backwards after getting up from the mat.
The reverse of positions happened again with Lewis landing on top after clipping Tybura with a punch and then blasting away with huge, monstrous punches. Tybura survived the onslaught to once again flip the fight back over into his favor.
Tybura stayed on top until the end of the round this time, moving into mount and eventually looking for a key lock before time ran out on him.
Lewis came out aggressive in round two with a heavy barrage of punches on the feet, looking to overwhelm Tybura while launching missile like shots at his head. Tybura was able to endure those combinations before landing a takedown of his own
Once Tybura got the fight to the mat he had no intention of letting Lewis back up again as he maintained control, even moving into the mount before the round came to an end.
With the fight likely tied up through two rounds, Lewis had no intentions of allowed the judges to get involved as he was gunning for the knockout and that’s exactly what unfolded.

With Tybura trapped against the cage, Lewis backed away for just a split second before unleashing a hellish combinations of punches that ended with his opponent dropping to the canvas in a heap as the referee rushed into stop the fight.
The end came at 2:48 in the third round.
Following the knockout, Lewis celebrated with the Texas crowd rather than naming anybody he wanted to fight next although before the event he mentioned Fabricio Werdum or Francis Ngannou as two names at the top of the list of who he’d like to face with a win on Sunday night.
