Dana White Seems Open to Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor 2 in the UFC
If Floyd Mayweather really wants to test the waters in mixed martial arts, UFC president Dana White seems open to the possibility of booking him for a rematch against Conor McGregor.
Over the past couple of weeks, Mayweather has dropped a few videos on social media that show him stepping into a mixed martial arts cage as if to tease that he’s actually contemplating a crossover from boxing to MMA.
Of course no one can be sure if Mayweather is actually planning a move to MMA or if this is just pure promotion but White doesn’t seem opposed to the idea of welcoming him to the UFC for a rematch against McGregor.
Mayweather defeated McGregor by 10th round TKO last August in a boxing match and White says the only way a rematch really makes sense is to see it again — this time under mixed martial arts rules.
“Floyd said leading up to the fight with Conor that he would do both [boxing and MMA]. So we’ll see what happens,” White teased on “UFC Tonight”. “Obvioiusly, the only way making that fight again makes any sense is if he comes into the Octagon.
“We went over and boxed him, the UFC and Conor McGregor, and now it’s time for him to reciprocate and come and fight in the Octagon.”
In addition to his video posts on social media, Mayweather and McGregor have also been jabbing back and forth at each other on Twitter and Instagram over the past few weeks leading to further speculation that they were already building towards a rematch.

McGregor was a decided underdog while stepping into boxing for the first time ever against arguably one of the best in the history of the sport in Mayweather.
That being said, the odds against Mayweather beating McGregor in the UFC would be astronomical if the fight ever actually came together.
Still with the kind of money that the boxing match earned last year with the fight ended up as the second biggest pay-per-view of all time, it’s impossible to ignore the possibility that White could pursue Mayweather vs. McGregor 2 in the UFC.
