ONE Championship’s Christian Lee Returns To Action In March
It’s going to be a busy start to 2018 for the Lee family with both Angela Lee and now Christian Lee announcing fights.
Last week, Angela announced that she will be competing on the upcoming May 18 fight card in Singapore, ONE Unstoppable Dreams. Angela’s opponent is yet to be announced, but official confirmation is soon to follow and there are rumours that she will defend her title for the third time in a rematch with Mei Yamaguchi.
Earlier this morning, Angela’s younger brother Christian also announced he has a bout lined up and it takes place in little over four weeks time.
Christian announced via his Instagram that he will compete next month at ONE: Visions of Victory which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 9. Christian will face former ONE title challenger and former DEEP champion Kazunori Yokota in what could potentially make for a title eliminator bout.
Yokota (25-7-3) is yet to win under the ONE Championship banner, but is an experienced fighter on the Japanese circuit and once went on an unbeaten run of 13 wins until he entered the organization. Yokota has lost to both Marat Gafurov and Martin Nguyen in ONE, but he’s not a man to be underestimated and he will have a big experience advantage over Lee heading into the cage.
Lee (8-1) will be looking to make it 4 wins in a row when he takes on Yokota, with wins over Jianping Wan, Keanu Subba and Kotetsu Boku all in the last eleven months. Lee’s only loss is to the current ONE Championship featherweight titleholder Nguyen and he will no doubt be looking to get himself in contention for a rematch with an impressive win over Yokota on March 7.
No other fights have been announced for the card.
