Featherweight Champ Max Holloway Injured and Out of UFC 222 Main Event
UFC 222 has just taken a major hit.
Featherweight champion Max Holloway has suffered an injury that forced him out of his upcoming title fight against Frankie Edgar on March 3 in Las Vegas.
Sources close to the fight confirmed the news on Saturday. UFC officials have not made any announcement regarding the event.
There are no details about Holloway’s injury at this time or the severity of his ailment but it was bad enough that he will not be able to compete against Edgar at UFC 222.
Holloway just fought in December when he defeated former champion Jose Aldo by third round TKO in his first title defense as champion.
This is the second time the fight between the two featherweights has been scrapped after Edgar suffered a broken orbital bone that forced him out of their previously scheduled bout at UFC 218.
Now it’s Holloway who has suffered the injury forcing him out of the upcoming bout on March 3.
