Eryk Anders Makes Weight on Second Attempt, Two More Fighters Miss Including Co-Main Event

Two fighters missed the mark at the official weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Anders

The UFC Fight Night card in Belem, Brazil faced several struggles on Friday morning as multiple fighters missed weight including co-main event fighter Pedro Munhoz.

The headline fight for the evening also saw some drama as Eryk Anders initially came in 187.9 pounds, which is 1.9 pounds over the middleweight limit for a non-title fight. The Brazilian commission opted to give Anders extra time to attempt to make the weight and when he finally stepped back onto the scales he was at 186 pounds.

His opponent Lyoto Machida was also at 186 pounds so the main event was official.

The co-main event saw Munoz come in at a whopping 140 pounds — four pounds over the bantamweight limit — for his fight against John Dodson. According to a report from MMAFighting, Munhoz will be fined 20-percent of his show money, which will be given to Dodson with another 20-percent of his win money going to his opponent if he’s victorious.

As of now the fight between Munhoz and Dodson remains up in the air after the Brazilian failed to make weight on Friday morning.

Michel Prazeres also came in heavyweight while weighing 161 pounds — a full five pounds over the lightweight limit in a non-title fight — but his matchup against Desmond Green will proceed as scheduled. Prazerez will face similar fines with 20-percent of his show money going to Green and another 20-percent of his win money being handed over if he’s victorious on Saturday night.
