Ronda Rousey Already Receiving Heat from Fellow WWE Superstars

Ronda Rousey has only been on the WWE roster for 3 days and she's already receiving heat from some superstars.

Ronda Rousey’s arrival in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) sent shockwaves through the professional wrestling industry but apparently not everyone is happy with her first appearance.

At the end of the Royal Rumble — one of WWE’s biggest annual events — Rousey came out at the very tail end of the broadcast after the last match had already finished.

The match was the first ever Royal Rumble for women where 30 participants enter the ring with each eliminated over the top rope until the last person standing is declared the winner. While the Royal Rumble event has been happening for decades, this was the one for the women so it was a particularly notable occasion.

Asuka (real name Kanako Urai) was the winner but her moment was short lived as Rousey’s music hit the speakers and she made her first walk to the ring as a member of the WWE roster. Afterwards, WWE posted several videos of Rousey’s first appearance including an interview with her after the event was over but not nearly as much touting Asuka’s historic win.

That didn’t sit too well with a couple of veteran performers at WWE.

In addition to the comments made by both Nia Jax (real name Savelina Fanene) and the Bella twins (real names Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace and Brianna Monique Danielson) on Twitter, fellow performer Sasha Banks (real name Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado) was asked about Rousey’s arrival when making an appearance on Sirius XM after the Royal Rumble was finished.

Banks refused to make much of a comment at all regarding Rousey’s arrival much less offering any sort of excitement about the signing after the former UFC champion crashed the party on such a historic night for the women in WWE.

“My feeling is, I’m sorry to do it to you guys, I have nothing nice to say so I can’t say anything at all,” Banks said. “That’s it.”

The hosts of the show continued to press her for any sort of answer regarding any aspect of Rousey’s signing with WWE but she wasn’t having it.

“I have nothing to say about it,” Banks said. “Nope. I’ve got nothing nice to say. I’m going to keep it as that. You’re not going to get nothing out of me.”

Now it’s entirely possible that all of the comments being made on social media and through this interview are a set up for Rousey’s storyline once she actually arrives in WWE and begins performing with her fellow superstars.

Professional wrestling is notorious for blending real life drama into the stories that take place inside the ring, which could be the perfect set up for Rousey’s first rivalry when she appears in WWE.

That being said, it’s common for performers to be a little more real and candid over social media but especially in interviews like the one Banks did to recap what happened at the Royal Rumble event.

Only time will tell if the comments coming from the WWE superstars regarding Rousey are real or just storyline driven but it’s clear the former UFC champion is definitely the talk of the town after joining the promotion.
