John Kavanagh Says The ‘Plan Is Forming’ For Conor McGregor’s Return
When will Conor McGregor return to the UFC Octagon is the question on everybody’s lips right now, but we’re still yet to hear from the UFC lightweight champion on when he might make the walk again.
Speculation is gathering as to whether he will be stripped of his 155-pounds title and with Dana White last week confirming that Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will fight for the undisputed title at UFC 223, there’s much confusion surrounding the status of the UFC’s biggest draw.
McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, was in Boston this past weekend to take in UFC 220 and enjoy the sights and scenery of Beantown. With two new series of ‘Wimp 2 Warrior Ireland’ about to kick off in Tullamore and Belfast, Kavanagh joined Richie Cranny for a Facebook Live chat and of course, the topic of McGregor and his return came up in conversation.
“There’s so much happening in the division and things changing around and what have you [that] I can’t say who [and] I can’t say when [he will come back],” Kavanagh said.
“As people who follow him on social media will see, he’s back, very motivated, training a lot. He’s in the gym every day.
“The plan seems to be forming and getting more exact every day that (he’ll be) back in the UFC this year.

“When and against who, I would be just guessing.”
The plot thickens and with Nate Diaz last evening announcing that he is planning on return in May or June, McGregor appears to have all the cards for when and who he faces when he returns to the Octagon.
