Conor McGregor Sees Weakness In Every Potential Opponent in the UFC
Conor McGregor is back in the gym and hopefully that means he’s one step closer towards booking his return to the UFC.
The reigning UFC lightweight champion hasn’t fought inside the Octagon since 2016 with the majority of his focus last year taken up by his boxing match against Floyd Mayweather that reportedly earned him north of $100 million.
In recent weeks, McGregor has been the subject of several call outs from inside the UFC’s lightweight division, most notably from interim champion Tony Ferguson and top ranked contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, who are both champing at the bit for a fight with him.
For his part, McGregor seems to be falling back in love with his training schedule again, but it doesn’t appear he’s all that impressed by the current crop of fighters trying to welcome him back to the UFC.
“Fighting pure is a different gravy. Looking at the landscape of my current opponents, everyone of them have truly weak areas in the overall picture of fighting. You cannot test me in a straight fight,” McGregor wrote on Instagram.
“Nobody on this Earth can. Trust me. I am not just the greatest at this. I am the double greatest.”
McGregor has taken shots at both Nurmagomedov and Ferguson in the past not only due to their fighting styles but regarding their potential drawing power for a fight with him.
McGregor has made it clear that his return to the UFC will be based on a number of factors but perhaps at the top of the list is his ability to enter into a financial arrangement that makes him happy. That also includes finding an opponent who can help bring more eyeballs to the fight than just those interested in seeing McGregor perform.
That being said, McGregor remains in negotiations with the UFC on a new deal but there’s still no word on how long it may take before an agreement is reached to get the lightweight champion back in action in 2018.
