Jimi Manuwa Rematches Jan Blachowicz At UFC London
Jimi Manuwa finally has a fight set and he will rematch a man he’s already faced and beaten, Jan Blachowicz.
The UFC revealed this morning that British light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa will rematch the Polish fighter at UFC Fight Night London on March 17.
Manuwa previously Blachowicz at the UFC’s debut show in Poland in April, 2015. That evening, Manuwa won by unanimous decision in the co-main event of the evening. Since then, both men have trodden very different paths but it’s now time for them to face off once again.
Manuwa (17-3) is coming off the back off a loss at UFC 214 to Volkan Oezdemir. Prior to that loss, the Brit had put together two first-round knockout victories over Ovince Saint Preux and Corey Anderson on home soil, but came unstuck against the Swiss fighter in Anaheim in July. The Brit has suggested over the past few days that he is back in camp and that he’s preparing for an upcoming fight.
Blachowicz (21-7) comes into the fight off the back of two wins with victories over Devin Clark and Jared Cannonier. The Pole has gone 3-3 since his loss to Manuwa in 2015.
Three other bouts have already been confirmed for UFC Fight Night London. Leon Edwards will face Peter Sobotta in welterweight action, while Magomed Ankalaev will take on Paul Craig at light heavyweight. It’s also been announced that heavyweight Mark Godbeer will face newcomer Dmitry Poberezhets.
