Jessica Andrade vs. Tecia Torres Booked for UFC on FOX 28 in Orlando
A pivotal matchup with potential title implications will go down on Feb. 24 as Jessica Andrade takes on Tecia Torres at UFC on FOX 28 from Orlando.
UFC officials announced the matchup via the Orlando Sentinel on Wednesday.
Andrade was originally attached to a rumored bout against Karolina Kowalkiewicz, but it appears the UFC opted to move in a different direction by booking this fight instead.
Andrade has looked virtually unstoppable at strawweight outside of her lone loss to former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Most recently, Andrade dispatched former title contender Claudia Gadelha in impressive fashion to put herself right back in the hunt for a UFC championship.
Meanwhile, Torres has won her last three fights in a row including a dominant performance against Michelle Waterson at UFC 218 in early December. While Torres had hoped to earn a title shot with that win, it appears she will have to go through at least one more top contender before getting that opportunity.
Andrade vs. Torres is the latest addition to the UFC on FOX 28 card with a main event for the show still to be determined.
