It looks like Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will be sticking around at welterweight for at least one more main event fight.

The UFC is closing in on a headline matchup pitting Cerrone against Yancy Medeiros at UFC Fight Night in Austin, Texas on Feb. 18.

Sources close to the matchup confirmed that verbal agreements are in place for the fight with bout agreements expected to be issued in the coming days.

Cerrone (32-10, 1 NC) had teased a return to the lightweight division just recently following a knockout loss to Darren Till but it appears the veteran fighter will stay at welterweight for at least one more fight.

Cerrone is returning from a tough three fight losing streak after picking up four wins in a row after moving to the 170-pound division in 2016. Now “Cowboy” will look to get back on track when he returns in February.

As for Medeiros (15-4-1), he’s coming off back-to-back TKO wins against Erick Silva and Alex Oliveira. His most recent fight against Oliveira earned Medeiros ‘Fight of the Night’ honors at UFC 218.

Now Medeiros will look to headline his first UFC card as he’s expected to face Cerrone in February.
