Ross Pearson vs Mizuto Hirota Set For UFC 221

British lightweight Ross Pearson will fight Mizuto Hirota at UFC 221 on February 10 in Perth, Australia.

UFC 221 is taking shape and lightweights Ross Pearson and Mizuto Hirtoa are the latest to be added to the card.

Sources close to MMANytt have confirmed that Pearson and Hirota will go toe-to-toe in Perth, Australia on Feb. 10 in a lightweight bout scheduled for the undercard. The news was first reported by Nolan King on Twitter.

Pearson (19-14-o 1NC) will be looking to get back to winning ways having lost four fights in a row under the UFC banner. Pearson has dropped losses to Will Brooks, Jorge Masvidal, Stevie Ray and most recently Dan Hooker. The Brit last had his hand raised at UFC Fight Night 85 when he defeated Chad Laprise in March 2016. Despite his recent run of form, Pearson has never once indicated that he’s ready to hand up the 4-oz. gloves and he will no doubt be relishing the fact he’s been given the chance to prove himself once again next February.

Hirota (18-8-2) is coming off the back of a loss himself having dropped a unanimous decision to Alexander Volkanovski last June. Prior to that loss, the Japanese fighter had picked up a win over Cole Miller and a split decision draw over Teruto Ishihara at UFC Fight Night 75.

Current UFC 221 Fight Card:

Robert Whittaker vs. Luke Rockhold
Ben Nguyen vs. Jussier Formiga
Damien Brown vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Teruto Ishihara vs. J. Quiñones
Ross Pearson vs. Mizuto Hirota
