Floyd Mayweather Reportedly Talking To The UFC About An MMA Fight

Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather is interested in taking a fight in the UFC according to Joe Rogan.

Floyd Mayweather is reportedly interested in fighting in MMA and is currently talking to the UFC about a deal according to colour commentator, Joe Rogan.

Speaking yesterday on his podcast the ‘Joe Rogan MMA Show’, Rogan spoke about the possibility of boxers moving over into MMA and he revealed the surprising news that the 50-0 retired Mayweather has been talking to the UFC about a potential fight.”

“Floyd talked about it,” Rogan said. “This is one thing I can tell you. Dana told me that Floyd wants to make a deal in the UFC, legitimately.”

Rogan then went on to explain that it was UFC president Dana White that confirmed the news to him.

“I texted him, I go ‘is Floyd really talking about fighting in MMA?’ Rogan continued. “He goes ‘Yeah, he’s f***ing crazy, I told him he’d get killed but he’s still talking about it.'”

Mayweather was last in action back in August when he faced and defeated Conor McGregor in a boxing match at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. After taking his record to 50-0, Mayweather confirmed his retirement (again) and was said to be stepping away from the fight game once and for all.

The last high-profile boxer to compete in the UFC was James Toney who took on Randy Couture at UFC 118. Couture submitted Toney after 3 minutes and 19-seconds of the first round after scoring a takedown after just 15-seconds.

Would Mayweather ever put himself in a similar situation? Unlikely, but after seeing Mayweather vs McGregor in a boxing ring earlier this year, never say never.
