Aaron Chalmers Wants Kevin ‘Baby Slice’ Ferguson Jr And Suggests A BAMMA vs Bellator Fight

Aaron Chalmers reflected on his debut year in MMA after BAMMA 33 in Newcastle

Aaron Chalmers made it three wins in three last evening at BAMMA 33 when he defeated Karl Donaldson after just 40-seconds of the first round.

Chalmers took a stiff left hand after just 10-seconds, but he recovered well and got back to his gameplan to get rid of the BAMMA debutant in double quick time. He then proceeded to call out “Baby Slice” aka. Kevin Ferguson Jr in his post fight interview and he later spoke exclusively to MMANytt to explain why he liked the matchup.

“Everything falls hand in hand,” Chalmers said. “He’s had three fights, I’ve had three and I think it’s a good matchup. If it’s a dangerous matchup it’s a dangerous matchup, but I think it fits both fighters.

“We can both stand and fight and I think it would be a helluva fight for the fans. Bellator fans and BAMMA fans. Yeah, I’m more than happy to take that fight.”

Whether it happens on BAMMA or Bellator, Chalmers isn’t concerned. He even suggest a cross promotion fight at an upcoming event.

“It’s a mixed card at the minute so why not a Bellator vs BAMMA or it could be anything,” Chalmers said. “Like I said, that’s the fight I want, but it’s not up to me. If it comes my way I will happily take it.”

While happy to fight Ferguson Jr, a BAMMA title fight at this point in time is not something Chalmers believes is realistic. He was very honest about his standing in the company and paid his respect to Richard Kiely, Terry Brazier and the BAMMA champion, Alex Lohore.

“I’ll be honest, I’m not in Richie’s league,” Chalmers said. “I speak to Richie all the time on a daily basis and he always wishes us well. He was one of the first lads to come over to us in Birmingham and talk to us and say ‘just keep your feet on the ground and that I’m doing excellent for the sport.’ It’s not a fight I would take.

He’s a high level kickboxer who has done very well in his career, that’s why he took the title fight. Me, personally, I’m not in that league. That’s why I’m going to build myself up over the next one or two years and then I can start looking at the title shots and stuff. At this moment in time, I’m worlds away from Alex Lohore, Terry Brazier. I’m not in their league and I’ll openly admit that.”
