Dana White Confirms A Champion vs Champion Super Fight Is Going To Happen

UFC President Dana White confirmed this evening that the UFC is putting together a champion vs champion super fight with UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw dropping down to flyweight to meet the 125-pounds king, Demetrious Johnston.

White Confirmed the news at the UFC 218 post-fight press conference.

“That fight is going to happen,” White said. “Yeah that fight is going to happen.”

When asked to confirm again, White simply responded:

“Yeah that fight is going to happen. We didn’t announce it yet.”

With that bombshell dropped, White left the press conference before any follow up questions could be asked.

The fight maybe music to the ears of both Johnson and Dillashaw, but a number of contenders in both the 125 and 135-pounds division will be inconvenienced by the fight going ahead.

Henry Cejudo last evening put in a dominant display against Sergio Pettis and looked to have punched his ticket for a rematch with Johnson. Cody Garbrandt meanwhile was in attendance last evening in Detroit and will no doubt have one eye on getting revenge over the man who beat him for his title just last month, Dillashaw.

Of course, anything White said these days should be taken with a large pinch of salt. No official announcement has been made about the fight and neither fighter has confirmed they are in talks via social media or any other platform.

Champion vs Champion, Johnson vs Dillashaw looks likes it’s on the table for 2018, but don’t go celebrating just yet until we get the 100% clear from the UFC.
