Francis Ngannou Demolishes Alistair Overeem with Vicious One Punch Knockout

Francis Ngannou is gunning for the title after knocking out Alistair Overeem

Francis Ngannou has officially called next on heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

On Saturday night at UFC 218, Ngannou silenced any doubters that may have wondered if he was more hype than substance after he absolutely demolished Alistair Overeem with a left hook from hell.

The co-main event featured the heavyweights with a title shot on the line as Ngannou was looking to stay undefeated in the UFC while Overeem was attempting to earn a rematch after falling to Miocic last year.

As the fight got underway, Overeem rushed across the Octagon throwing a punch at Ngannou before grabbing the behemoth heavyweight in the clinch while pressing the action against the cage.

Unfortunately the fighters stalled against the fence, which forced a break from the referee as he restarted the bout in the middle of the Octagon.

A moment later, Overeem took a wild swing at Ngannou and he paid for lowering his defenses for even a split second.

Ngannou returned fire with a left hook that snapped Overeem’s head back and knocked him out almost instantaneously as he crashed to the mats, his legs stiff and toes curled.

Ngnannou jumped down to the ground to land a few more shots but referee Dan Miragliotto rushed in to stop the fight before any more damage could be done to an unconscious Overeem.

“I’m on my way to the title shot. I think I got it tonight,” Ngannou said after knocking out Overeem at just 1:42 into the first round. “I’m ready for that. I’m readier than ever.”

UFC president Dana White had previously stated that the winner of this fight would face Miocic next so it appears Ngannou will get his shot at the heavyweight champion in 2018.
