Georges St-Pierre Confirms He’s Been Diagnosed With Colitis And Will Be Sidelined
The UFC middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre has confirmed Dana White’s announcement last night that he will spend a period of the sidelines after being diagnosed with the digestive disease, Colitis.
St-Pierre took to his Facebook page earlier this evening and wrote:
“I now understand the health issues that I had during my last training camp… I hoped my condition would improve after the fight but unfortunately it got worse and I had to go straight to the hospital for a colonoscopy when I came back from vacation last Wednesday. The diagnosis is ulcerative colitis and I am now taking medication that will hopefully appease the symptoms. My health is my #1 priority right now, I’m still a very happy man, thanks for your support!!!”

According to Wikipedia Colitis, the signs and symptoms of colitis are quite variable and dependent on the cause of the given colitis and factors that modify its course and severity.
Symptoms of colitis may include: mild to severe abdominal pain and tenderness, recurring bloody diarrhoea with/without pus in the stools, faecal incontinence, flatulence, fatigue, loss of appetite and unexplained weight loss. More severe symptoms may include: shortness of breath, a fast or irregular heartbeat and fever.
Neither White or St-Pierre implied how long he will be out of action, of course, that will largely depend on the severity of the condition.
One man no doubt anxious to hear more will be the interim UFC middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker. The Australian reached out to St-Pierre last night to wish him a healthy recovery.
Get well soon champ! @GeorgesStPierre @danawhite @ufc Take your time and get healthy looking forward to sharing the octagon with you #unify #anywhere
