Emil Meek Has A US Visa For UFC 219…. But There’s A Hitch
There was good news and bad news for Norwegian fighter Emil Weber Meek today.
The UFC welterweight has been granted a visa for the US for his trip to Las Vegas for UFC 219 on Dec. 30, however, his expected opponent, Kamaru Usman, now appears to no longer be interested in taking the fight with him.
Just a few weeks ago, Meek revealed on his Instagram that he was struggling to get a visa and that he didn’t know whether he would be eligible to enter the US for the fight before the end of they year. It was only today that Meek took to social media once again to reveal that he had been granted access and that he would be able to board a plane to make the trip across to the Atlantic.
Unfortunately, the man in limbo all along, Usman, no longer appears to be willing to accept the fight. Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, spoke to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com and said:
“I’m very happy for Emil. He’s a nice guy. But we’ve moved on. We’re looking to try and catch a much bigger, scared fish.”
But here’s this from Usman’s manager, @AliAbdelaziz00: “I’m very happy for Emil. He’s a nice guy. But we’ve moved on. We’re looking to try and catch a much bigger, scared fish.”
Abdelaziz wouldn’t disclose who that “fish” is at this time.

Who that scared fish is remains a mystery. Darren Till? Jorge Masvidal? Demian Maia?
Seemingly only time will tell. For the minute at least, Emil Meek vs Kamaru Usman looks to be off the cards. Meek and Usman look to be going their separate.
