Ricardo Lamas Expected to Face Josh Emmett at FOX UFC Fight Night in Winnipeg
Former title contender Ricardo Lamas will still fight at FOX UFC Fight Night on Dec. 16 as he’s now expected to face Team Alpha Male fighter Josh Emmett on the card taking place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Sources close to the matchup confirmed the news to MMANytt.com with verbal agreements in place from the fighters. UFC officials have not made the matchup official just yet but it’s expected that contracts will be issued any day now.
The fight was first reported by Farah Hannoun on Twitter.
Lamas was originally expected to face former featherweight champion Jose Aldo on the card, but he was pulled in order to fight Max Holloway in the main event at UFC 218 this weekend in Detroit.
Now Lamas will face Emmett, who just recently moved down to the featherweight division where he picked up a win over Felipe Arantes in October.
There’s no word if the fight between Lamas and Emmett will remain on the main card or not.
FOX UFC Fight Night will be headlined by former champions Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos meeting in a key welterweight matchup that could determine the next No. 1 contender to meet Tyron Woodley in 2018.
