Kelvin Gastelum Hits 186-pounds At The Second Time Of Asking In Shanghai
Kelvin Gastelum was very close to an embarrassing moment at UFC Fight Night Shanghai this morning when he required a second attempt and a towel to hit the 186-pounds weight limit.
The results for the weigh-ins were reported by John Morgan of MMAJunkie.com who was on the ground reporting from the fighter hotel in China. Rolando Dy, who was called up at short notice to face Wuliji Buren, was the only fighter to miss weight and he came in 2-pounds over the featherweight weight limit at 148-pounds.
All other fighters took to the scales successfully including Michael Bisping who hit 186-pounds without any problems.
Gastelum ensured there was some drama though and the former welterweight was the last man to weigh-in. The first time he stepped on the scales, Gastelum weighed 187-pounds. Thankfully, after removing his underwear and using a towel to hide his modesty, he hit 186-pounds and any embarrassment was avoided.
UFC officials are yet to announce the punishment for Dy being 2-pounds over, but the bout with Buren is still expected to go ahead.
