TJ Dillashaw Demands Demetrious Johnson Fight: 'I've Got Unfinished Business'

TJ Dillashaw is just a few weeks removed from reclaiming his UFC bantamweight world title, but he’s already got his eyes on winning further gold.

Dillashaw defeated his former teammate Cody Garbrandt at UFC 217 on Nov. 4 and took back the title that he lost back in 2016. Having finally put to bed his feud with Garbrandt, Dillashaw has now set his sights on taking out UFC flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson.

“They [UFC] want it to happen, I want it to happen, the fans want it to happen, it’s all about Demetrious Johnson agreeing to it now,” Dillashaw told the ‘Fight Disciples’ podcast. “It’s all about him manning up and really If he wants that money fight, he’s wants the big fights, well this is it. He talks the big talk and now it’s time to walk the big walk.

“Let’s get it done. The ball is in his court.”

“I’ve already agreed to lose the weight which is going to be a lot of work. I know it can be done because I’ve already been in the process of doing it and he turned down the fight. It’s the fight the fans most want to see and it’s the one that makes the most sense. It’s time to get it done man, it could be the biggest fight of 2018 for sure”

The UFC tried to match Dillashaw against Johnson earlier this year during the summer. Unfortunately for Dillashaw, “Mighty Mouse” refused to fight him and the UFC were forced to book Johnson against Ray Borg, leaving Dillashaw on the sidelines until the injured Garbrandt could return.

Johnson’s reasons for not fighting Dillashaw have left a sour taste in the mouth of the UFC bantamweight champion and he now wants the fight more than ever.

“I felt insulted,” Dillashaw said. “He was saying that I didn’t deserve the shot. It wasn’t like he had someone there who was a contender for a long time and should have been there. He was worried about me making the weight when I’d already told him that Ray Borg had missed half his weight cuts in the UFC and that I’d never missed weight.

“I was very disappointed. As well, saying I don’t deserve it and that I needed a belt and this and that. I was the most worthy opponent then and I’m even more of a worthy opponent now.
