Manager: Germaine de Randamie ‘Never Agreed’ To Fight with Ketlen Vieira

Ketlen Vieira says her fight with Germaine de Randamie has been scrapped but the former UFC champion's manager says the bout was never agreed to anyways

On Tuesday, Ketlen Vieira took to Instagram to express her anger after former UFC women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie allegedly dropped out of their fight due to a lingering hand injury.

The only problem is de Randamie’s manager says the fight was never official in the first place.

The bout was rumored for the UFC Fight Night card in Brazil on Feb. 3 but the promotion had never officially announced the matchup.

According to her manager, Brian Butler of Suckerpunch Entertainment, de Randamie was never officially set to fight Vieira so there’s no way for her to drop off the event because of an injury.

“Never agreed to a fight [with Ketlen Vieira]” Butler said via text message when asked about de Randamie’s condition.

De Randamie did go through successful hand surgery just recently to clear up a lingering problem that had been haunting her for more than year.

She first revealed the injury after defeating Holly Holm to become the first ever UFC women’s featherweight champion — a title she later relinquished as she returned to fight at 135-pounds instead.

As for Vieira, it appears she still hopes to fight on the upcoming card in Brazil as she tries to build on her undefeated record where she’s also 3-0 in the UFC including a submission victory against Sara McMann in her last bout.
