Clay Guida Needs Just 67 Seconds to Earn TKO Against Joe Lauzon

Clay Guida picks up a huge win against Joe Lauzon in Virginia

Clay Guida hasn’t earned a TKO victory in nearly a decade but he added a huge finish to his highlight reel on Saturday night with a devastating first round finish against Joe Lauzon.

After a full training camp spent at Team Alpha Male in California, Guida came firing out of the gate when he connected with a huge overhand right that wobbled Lauzon in an early exchange.

Guida smelled blood in the water and followed up with a huge uppercut that sent Lauzon crashing to the mat. Guida quickly followed him to the floor where he unloaded a flurry of strikes until the referee finally stopped the fight at just 1:07 into the opening round.

With the win, Guida revealed that this was the final fight on his current UFC contract but he made a plea to stay with the organization from now until the day he retires.

Guida is also now 2-0 since returning to lightweight after spending several years competing in the featherweight division.

“At 155 pounds, I’m having fun again,” Guida said. “This is my division. I’m coming for these guys. Whoever is ready to get steamrolled, step in the Octagon with me.”
