Fabricio Werdum vs. Derrick Lewis scrapped from UFC 216 fight card

UFC 216 has lost a key heavyweight fight on Saturday night

UFC 216 has lost another fight, this time just minutes before the event was scheduled to begin.

Heavyweight Derrick Lewis suffered a last minute injury that forced him out of his fight with Fabricio Werdum, which was expected to take place on the pay-per-view portion of the card on Saturday night. Lewis reportedly was suffering from a back injury, which has plagued him throughout the past couple of years.

The severity of the injury is not known at this time, but UFC officials confirmed the news just ahead of the event kicking off from Las Vegas.

With Lewis vs. Werdum cancelled, another heavyweight fight between Walt Harris and Mark Godbeer will be bumped up to the pay-per-view main card with the early prelims on UFC Fight Pass moving forward with two bouts.

UFC 216 will move forward with 11 total fights.
