Nik Lentz out, fight with Will Brooks scrapped from UFC 216

UFC 216 has lost a fight just a day away from the event

A lightweight fight between Nik Lentz and Will Brooks has been scrapped from UFC 216 just a day ahead of the event.

Lentz has been pulled from the card, which leaves Brooks without an opponent as UFC 216 will now move forward with 12 total fights.

UFC officials confirmed the news with a statement released on Friday.

“Due to medical issues with Nik Lentz, his bout against Will Brooks at UFC 216 has been cancelled.

The bout between Matt Schnell and Marco Beltran has been moved to the FX prelims, and UFC 216 will proceed as scheduled with 12 bouts.”

Both Lentz and Brooks were looking to bounce back from recent losses but now the fighters will have to wait until a later date to attempt to get back on a winning track.

The fight was Lentz’s first since leaving his former camp at American Top Team while Brooks was looking to redeem himself after two straight losses.
