Michael Bisping blasts UFC champions who become rock stars after winning the belt

Since winning the UFC middleweight title last year, Michael Bisping has been bombarded by questions but none more frequently than the one inquiring about how much life has changed for him since becoming champion.

Bisping, 38, is a veteran of the sport who has been competing professionally for over 13 years and he’s seen all sides of mixed martial arts from his first days in the UFC after winning “The Ultimate Fighter” to finally becoming a champion last year.

As much as he appreciates finally reaching the top of the mountain as champion, Bisping never lost sight on what got him there in the first place and that’s why life for him hasn’t changed much at all since that fateful night in June 2016 when he knocked out Luke Rockhold in the first round.

“Everybody says this. Everybody says oh you’re life changed. You know what the No. 1 question is I get asked all the time — how’s your life changed since you won the belt?” Bisping said in “The Exchange”. “Only if you’re an a–hole do you let it actually have some impact on who you are. I’m still f–king Michael Bisping.

“Half of these guys would probably say I’m a cock before it and I’m a cock afterwards but at least I’m f–king stale, at least I’m a cock the whole way through.”

While Bisping promises that his demeanor has never changed from his earliest fights in the UFC to now where he’s the reigning middleweight champion of the world, he can’t say the same for some other fighters who have held the title in the past.

Bisping wasn’t ready to name names but he’s seen plenty of fighters reach the top of the sport to become champion and then suddenly turn into rock stars and divas while forgetting what got them there in the first place.

“These people they win the belt, it’s a bit of f–king metal then they let it go to their head and think they’re hot s–t,” Bisping said. “All you’re doing is stepping in the cage and fighting people for a living. You’re not curing cancer or anything like that. You’re not making a difference in the world.

“I take care of my kids, I look after my wife and I try to do right by them as much as I can. Yeah it’s great, it’s nice, it’s lovely but it doesn’t change who I am, it doesn’t change my life in the slightest. Might be able to buy some more Prada boots every now and again but nothing thats important.”
