Matt Brown announces he will retire following fight with Diego Sanchez

Matt Brown plans on calling it a career after his fight against Diego Sanchez in November

Veteran UFC welterweight Matt Brown announced on Thursday that he will retire from the sport of mixed martial arts following his upcoming fight against Diego Sanchez in Virginia on Nov. 11.

Brown made the announcement via Instagram.

Brown has always been known as one of the most exciting fighters on the entire UFC roster as evidenced by his five post fight bonuses including three for ‘Fight of the Night’.

Over the course of his UFC carer, Brown has faced a laundry list of top opponents with memorable victories over Erick Silva, Mike Pyle and Pete Sell along the way.

Brown got his start in the UFC after appearing on season 7 of “The Ultimate Fighter” where he competed as a middleweight before spending his entire career inside the Octagon fighting at 170 pounds.

Brown went on a seven fight win streak that started in 2012 while picking up victories against a slew of top contenders including Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson as he inched closer and closer to title contention.

When Brown returns in November he will look to cap off his career as he faces Sanchez in the co-main event for the card headlined by former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis as he takes on Dustin Poirier in a five round fight at 155 pounds.
