Nate Diaz blasts Conor McGregor for falling short against Floyd Mayweather

Conor McGregor has been showered with praise by numerous fighters over his performance lasting nearly 10 rounds with Floyd Mayweather in his professional boxing debut but don’t count former opponent Nate Diaz among them.

Diaz, who defeated McGregor last year before falling to him in a rematch, weighed in on his performance after facing Mayweather less than two weeks ago.

While there were many experts predicting that McGregor wouldn’t win a round much less land a significant punch against Mayweather, the Irishman proved everybody wrong by doing both over the course of nine-plus rounds.

Still, Diaz criticized McGregor for coming up short while taking a shot at the UFC lightweight champion’s continued issues with conditioning.

“He punched himself out the same way he lost in the UFC,” Diaz wrote on Instagram. “There was no learning going on. Over promotion bulls–t get off the nuts. This the s–t I’m talking about.

“Bruce Lee would’ve never lost like that.”

The secondary remark was a direct slam aimed at McGregor after he claimed the only person Mayweather could bring in to help him prepare for their fight is a clone of martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

Clearly, Diaz didn’t appreciate that comparison as he blasted McGregor over social media this week.

The good news for Diaz is he may be able to settle the score with McGregor once and for all if persistent rumors come to pass that the longtime rivals may meet for a third time in the UFC when the lightweight champion returns to the Octagon.
