His nickname “Money” is suiting since he is the highest paid boxer of all time with 19.5 million pay-per-views to his credit and over 1.3 billion in income from his fights. He runs his own promotion called Mayweather Promotions.

Before turning pro his amateur record was 84-8, when his nickname was still “Pretty Boy”. He was trained by his uncles Jeff Mayweather and Roger Mayweather, aswell as father Floyd Mayweather Sr. Uncle Roger was a world champion and fought legends like Julio Cezar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker, while his father, a welterweight contender, fought legend “Sugar” Ray Leonard. Mayweather Jr. is a master of the shoulder roll when he fights out of the orthodox stance.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor

After conquering all foes in the boxing ring, Mayweather retired in September of 2015. The UFC champion “The Notorious” Conor McGregor started calling Mayweather out and soon after their beef started. They were going back-and-forth on social media and Mayweather called for the fight to happen.

In May of 2016 rumors started floating around about a potential fight between the two superstars. Mayweather later confirmed that he was the one who started the rumors and that he was angling for a fight with McGregor.

After McGregor won his second title in the UFC in November of 2016 his star power grew even more. In January of 2017 UFC president Dana White offered Mayweather to fight McGregor in the UFC for 25 million dollars.
Mayweather continually stated that only McGregor could make him come out of retirement.

In March Mayweather urged McGregor to sign the paper and stop talking shit. On June 14th the fight was official as both fighters announced on Twitter that the fight was signed for the 26th of August at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather – McGregor World Tour

The two toured the world (US, Canada and UK) and did a press tour. The stops were hit-and-miss but mostly entertaining. They verbally sparred with each other over the four stops and didn’t get into any altercation.

McGregors famed “Fuck You” suit was on display during the world tour where McGregor constantly mocked Mayweather for his attire.

Floyd Mayweather faced off with the irish superstar on the 26th of August. McGregor won the first 3-4 rounds, slowly but surely Mayweather took over after that. He won by TKO in the 10th round and retired as a legend with 50-0.
