Floyd Mayweather predicts $300 million payday for his fight with Conor McGregor
Floyd Mayweather may owe $22 million in back taxes but he’s making it clear that money is not a problem for him whatsoever.
In anticipation of the next episode of “All-Access: Mayweather vs. McGregor”, Showtime released a clip to TMZ on Wednesday where the 49-0 boxer discusses his current financial situation as well as what he expects to make on Aug. 26.
The fight between Mayweather and McGregor is expected to generate ludicrous amounts of money on pay-per-view and in live attendance, which will then benefit both of the fighters involved in the matchup.
While McGregor is expected to clear north of $100 million for his part, Mayweather is now teasing that he believes he’ll make three-times as much, which would be the biggest payday of his legendary career.
“I mean, am I the highest-paid athlete out there? And just coming back? We not talking about no contract. We not talking about no contract for no 4 years, or no contract for no 5 years,” Mayweathe rsaid.
“I can do it in 36 minutes. $300 (million) or better. In 36 minutes.”
Mayweather has earned gaudy amounts of money in past fights including more than $200 million reportedly made from his 2015 bout against Manny Pacquiao.
During the four city world tour just a few weeks back, Mayweather was constantly taunted by the pro-McGregor crowd with chants of ‘pay your taxes’ after it was revealed that the boxer’s attorneys had asked for time to repay money owned to the IRS until after his fight on Aug. 26.
Mayweather reportedly owes $22 million in back taxes, but during the clip from “All-Access”, he pulls out huge stacks of cash to prove that he’s not struggling for money nor will he be any time soon.
“I’m not hurting. I’m far from hurting. I’ve got paper,” Mayweather said. “They talking ‘Mayweather this and Mayweather that’, I’m not hurting. I got mine. I can’t say what Conor McGregor is doing. I can’t say what the UFC is paying him but every month I make millions. They talk about it, I be about, I already got it.
“They call me ‘Money’ Mayweather for a reason. I’m going to get it regardless.”
